After watching two periods of a university hockey game that the staff ensured we would be able to watch prior to sitting down an hour and a half earlier, the owner/manager entered the establishment with a friend, sat down and had the channel changed to another game. When we protested he yelled at us for complaining saying it was for other patrons. Patrons who had no objections until he came in. Apparently all tvs are connected to the same tuner except two in a location out of our sight. I feel he put his staff in an extremely difficult situation and could have handled this situation differently. We will not be returning being as we felt this owner and/or manager was more concerned with being the "big dog", rather than pleasing his paying patrons."
According to the locals, this place is supposed to be one of the traditional hangouts, with the "best pizza anywhere". I guess I must be harder to impress. In the middle of the evening, the drinks were switched from the namesake mugs to plastic cups of half the size but equal the price. I had a drink bought for me in advance, but conveniently enough the waitress never returned to our table when it was time for me to collect my drink. As for the pizza, it was "different" with an unusually sweet sauce. Perhaps the locals love it not because it is particularly good as they claim, but because they grew up with this unusual taste being "normal" to them so everything else tastes odd to them.
Pretty poor service no attention to detail from our server. We had to find our own napkins. He was given the wrong sauce with his sampler basket with came out crazy fast so no way it was fresh and it was barely warm. Then when my food came out...about 10 mins later than his basket, it was not as described. The meat was gross and ultimately the worse burger I have ever eaten. Will not eat there again.
Good food from mugoos, great bar atmosphere.
